Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. (Hebrews 3:12-13)

Part of our "job" as Christians in local congregations is to build up the faith of each other within the Body of Christ. The church is made up of sinful, unrighteous people who don't always do the right thing, but as we live out our callings together in community, as we encourage each other to believe that God is Who He says He is and that Jesus is the one and only way to salvation, then we are much more likely to be a force for good in the world than to be just another social organization or civic group.

If you are not part of a local church, small group or Bible study, I ask that you prayerfully consider getting involved somewhere today. Surrounding yourself with other believers and true Christ-followers can help you walk whatever path God has set in front of you today. It will also help you overcome sin and unbelief, and fulfill your purpose of building up God's kingdom here on earth.

Holy God, make me a believing, encouraging and loving instrument of transformation, first in my own heart and then with the people around me. Lead me today to the people that I can encourage and strengthen and who will help me along this journey of faith. Amen.
