And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven. (Deuteronomy 4:19)

Star Light-Star Bright...

It was a star filled night, hen as a little girl, I gazed above and made a wish upon a star. In ignorance and innocence of childhood, I placed my hopes and faith in God's creation instead of my Creator. I no longer wish upon stars; I pray to my Lord.

Is prayer mere wishful thinking? Scoffers likely think it so; yet, the answer is no. Prayer is beyond explanation through a few carefully chosen words or phrases. It is the lifeline; connecting us to mankind's Maker and best friend. In a generation of instant messaging, we take for granted what once was impossible (with the exception of prayer).

Prayer instantly brings me into the presence of God the Father and God the Son. The Holy Spirit prays through me, carrying my deepest needs directly to God. I have the privilege of access to the Holy Trinity through faith and spoken and silent prayer. He awaits my praise, confessions, thanksgiving and requests.

Father, forgive me for wishing, when through faith and prayer, you enable me to worship in Spirit and in truth.
