Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which can not be uttered. (Romans 8:26)

If you've ever been in a classroom where the topic of discussion was way over your head, then you understand the meaning of the phrase "too deep." I remember college classes where I didn't even understand enough to ask an intelligent question, let alone answer one!

That's why today's verse gives me great hope. When I do not know the right words for my prayers, I can trust that the Spirit does. For me the realization that the Holy Spirit sees my desperation and cares enough to request help from God on my behalf is overwhelming.

When our spiritual longings come from deep within our souls, we can rest in the thought that our God knows us even more deeply. And He is there before we even know we need Him. What hope there is in knowing that God sees our hurts. What hope we have in knowing He cares enough to bind up those wounds especially in the moments where it hurts too much to even ask.

Holy God, thank You for Your loving care of us. You desire for us to be whole and holy and I thank You today for giving us the Holy Spirit to provide us with truth and comfort. We love You and praise You as our ultimate Healer. Amen.
