The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. (Luke 4:18-19)

Jesus spoke these words to worshipers in a synagogue, over 2,000 years ago. Yet, he speaks to you and me today. God anointed him. God sent him on a mission. I need him. I am poor in spirit; without him, I can do nothing of lasting significance. My heart is broken over the lost condition of many that I hold dear. Though I am indwelled by God’s Holy Spirit, fear and insecurity still hold me captive.

I need spiritual vision restored, my eyes opened to see Jesus meeting my every need. He has set me free; he has broken the power of Satan, the accuser and deceiver. Yesteryear’s bruises of rejection will fade under the healing light of God’s word. The Lord will empower and enable me. In faith, I can overcome strongholds of fear.

Father, , I thank you for sending your Son. Jesus has delivered me from sin; he is healing my mind and bruised spirit. I ask your blessings upon those who continue his mission of preaching the good news of your kingdom. In Jesus name. Amen.
